• Animal Foundation cutting fees for select dogs during special event

Although last month's Clear the Shelter special was successful in nearly emptying the Animal Foundation shelter, the influx of dogs has prompted a reduction of fees for select dogs and cats between now and Aug. 22.
"We've had a busy summer at The Animal Foundation, and there are nearly 100 dogs waiting for forever homes right now," said Alison Sabino, assistant director of operations for The Animal Foundation. "If you have kids, there is still plenty of time to introduce a furry friend into your home and save a life before school starts."
During the "Bark to School Special" through Aug. 22, adoption fees for all dogs six months and older are $25, and fees for pit bulls six months and older are waived.
Adoption fees for cats six months and older are also being discounted through today during the "Cool Cats of Summer Special."
As of Saturday, there were more than 90 dogs and 45 cats available for adoption. Adoption fees for dogs typically range from $25 to $250, and cat adoption fees are $25.
The shelter is also asking anyone who is not able to adopt but would consider fostering a pet, to visit the website and complete an application for our foster care program . The program serves as a lifeline for underage, sick, or
injured pets who cannot immediately be adopted.
All adopted dogs and cats come spayed or neutered, microchipped, uptodate on vaccines, and more. An additional $10 city license fee may apply. Adopters must complete an adoption counseling process.
Adoptions can and will be denied in the even the placement is not in the best interest of the pet.
Reduced fees for dogs are valid through Aug. 22 at The Animal Foundation's Campus Adoption Center, 655 N. Mojave Road in Las Vegas. It is open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
